The Best Unpretentious Plants For The Office

, Admin

Greening offices is a non-trivial task. Plants should not only enliven the space and help to create a healthy atmosphere, but also be hardy, resilient and unpretentious to care. This is no place for lovers of damp environments and meticulous care. Of course, a flashy, prim, appropriate to the interior is also important. Plants are no less important as a status demonstration tool than the finishing materials. But still in the first place among the criteria of choosing plants is always their unpretentiousness. © hydroplant

Talents of office plants

Offices, work areas and offices are included in the lists of special spaces for landscaping, in which you should look for a non-standard approach. In them, as a rule, general powerful lighting and the work of daylight lamps and modern lighting installations create conditions of sufficient light, even far from the windows. But this is where the "pluses" of offices for houseplants actually end. Radiation, dust, an abundance of technology, and dry air do not suit all crops. As well as not all crops are suitable for offices because of the love of high humidity, excessive romanticism, sloppy appearance and other features. But most importantly, because of the requirements to provide a thorough care, which in the office is especially not someone to do.

The range of plants that feel good in the workplace is very limited, taking into account all these factors. First and foremost, plants are selected according to the criterion of hardiness: Plants in the office are not specially engaged in, they should be content with modest procedures and forgive small and large irrigation blunders, do without any measures of air humidity and well tolerate unstable environment.

Aesthetic and functional possibilities are no less important. In offices plants play a role of compensating decor. They are full-fledged anti-stressors, which contribute not only to rest the eyes. They cancel out the influence on the emotional sphere and efficiency of furniture, boring colors, piles of equipment, documentation and so on. But they should not turn the office into a greenhouse: plants are placed and used so as to create a cozy, comfortable for work, not for life. This is a kind of "cure" for overload, stress, fatigue, melancholy and psychological discomfort. And at the same time the plants must fully correspond to the spirit and style of the room.

In offices there is no place for plants with "careless" greenery, seasonal accents, cultures, which have a limited decorative period, and plants that completely lose their leaves. Indoor plants for office landscaping should look immaculate all year round. And it is better if they are austere and modern - with rich or variegated color, perfect and simple lines, architectural effect, beautiful silhouettes. These should be expressive evergreens, playing their role regardless of the time of year and any other factors.

Selecting plants, the main thing is to correctly determine their number. In the office interior lack of plants and their overabundance is equally inappropriate. On average the number of required plants should be calculated according to a simple principle: For a small room one large plant or a similar in "volume" group of smaller plants is needed. For every 10 square meters of space you need at least 1 and at most 3 houseplants.

There are other principles for selecting room cultures for office spaces:

  • large-leaved plants are more suitable for spacious and uncluttered spaces, while small-leaved ones are more appropriate where there is a lot of furniture;
  • large plants are better placed in "front" areas, in reception areas and in the most important parts of offices (for example, closer to the boss' office);
  • the lower the ceiling, the more "tier plants" are used;
  • Verticals, elongated lines, dense bushes, and strict containers look better in offices;
  • It is better to use room-sized crops as space dividers rather than in corners;
  • in a room should not be placed more than 2 catchy and flowering cultures, should be dominated by background and neutral plants;
  • small plants are divided and placed equally on desks, windowsills, a variety of shelves, and shelves.
