Lepidocide - Effective Preparation Against Leaf-Eating Pests

, Admin

It often happens that chemical insecticides, especially those presented in the market for a long time, stop working on pests due to development of resistance (resistance) to the active substance, and then the biological preparations can come to the rescue, which, incidentally, have a number of advantages. In this article you will learn why Lepidocide will protect vegetable, berry, ornamental and fruit crops from leaf-eating pests.

Lepidocid protects plants from moths, moths, monk moths, moths, meadow moths, white moths, moths, apple moths, fireflies and other pests.

The preparation kills the pest, getting inside its body, thus it does not accumulate in plants and is safe for people, animals and bees.

Lepidocide helps to protect the relic and young saplings of boxwood on the Black Sea coast of the Krasnodar Territory from boxwood firefly, taking into consideration that the preparations based on pyrethroids, phosphogranic insecticides and neonicotinoids are inferior to the mentioned preparation in their efficiency, including the reason of pest resistance development to the preparations.

Benefits of Lepidocide:

  • It does not accumulate in plants and fruits and guarantees safe products for health.
  • It does not have phytotoxicity. The plant will not receive burns or leaf fall as may occur with chemical insecticides.
  • Applied at any phase of plant development. The waiting period is five days which allows carrying out treatments shortly before harvesting.
  • Compatible in tank mixtures with chemical pesticides and biological preparations.
  • Allows to solve the problem of resistance of insect pests to chemical pesticides.
  • The drug is safe for humans, warm-blooded animals, fish, hydrobionts, bees and entomophages if the application rates are observed. According to the conclusion of the Research Center of Toxicology and Hygienic Regulation of Biopreparations (NRC TBP) of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Lepidocide (P, SK and SK-M) refers to the 4th class of hazard

Active substance: Bacillus thuringiensis, var. kurstaki

Activity on pests

Pest death can occur 1 to 4 days depending on drug dose, but it is important that immediately after treatment caterpillars already have such damage to intestinal tract that it causes their inability to feed.

The highest effectiveness of the preparation is shown against larvae of younger ages at 18-30°C. Mass mortality of insects occurs on the 2nd-5th days. The preparations have an effect on the following generations of insect pests of plants: ugly pupae appear in populations, and emerged from them moths give progeny unable to prolong the race; sex ratio also changes, female fertility decreases. Preparations based on Bacillus thuringiensis, var. kurstaki retain their activity on treated plants for 8-10 days. Resistance to preparations based on Bacillus thuringiensis, var. kurstaki is not observed.

Lepidocide application method

The solution is prepared on the day of spraying. It is important to strictly adhere to all the rules that are prescribed in the instructions attached to the drug. The prepared mixture must be used within a day. The solution is very simple to prepare. First, according to the table, the necessary norm of Lepidocide is determined, which is diluted in clean water with a temperature of 20 degrees Celsius. The ready solution is applied in dry weather, at ambient temperature not exceeding 35 degrees Celsius.

Tip:The maximum effect will be achieved if you treat plants early in the period when the leaf-eating pest caterpillars are only emerging.
The second spraying of plants should be carried out after 7-8 days. This is done only when pest development continues. The last treatment can be carried out not later than 5 days before harvesting.

In spite of the fact that the insecticide is practically harmless to people according to the safety regulations the treatment should be carried out in special protective clothing covering the skin, gauze bandage, goggles and gloves.
Collections of growers and our own experience show that the insecticide in question has a long-lasting effect and does not require much time to process plants.

So we can recommend the preparation Lepidocide to protect flowers, vegetables, fruit and softwood crops.
